Pacific Grove & a weekend at the Jody Royee Gallery in Carmel

The weekend was enjoyable at the Jody Royee Gallery in Carmel, where I showed my jewelery along with fellow art jewelers Fran Grinels and Daria Salus. Lesley Anne Spowart joined us also and her paintings help make the gallery a lovely place.

The Friday night opening of the tour at the Pacific Grove Art Center was lively. Afterwards, Fran and I dropped off artwork for the "Expressions in Metal" show which runs from Oct 24th to Dec 11th at the Pacific Grove Art Center.

Monterey County Studio Tour

We're looking forward to 3 days of early fall and coastal air in Carmel and Pacific Grove.

Friday night's Gala Reception for the Monterey County Studio Tour is held at the Pacific Grove Art Center.

The tour action heats up on Saturday and Sunday September 27th and 28th from 10am - 5pm at the Jody Royee Gallery in Carmel. Jody has graciously offered the gallery space to myself and fellow art jewelers Fran Grinels and Daria Salus. The walls of the gallery will be decorated with paintings by Lesely Anne Spowart. If you'd like to meet any, or all, of us and enjoy some snacks at the same time head over to 317 Mid Valley Center, in Carmel (5.5 miles from Highway 1 on Carmel Valley Road.)

Virgin Artists

For the fourth year in a row, I'll be part of The Virgin Artists Show and Sale. Come see us in our new venue, The Institute for the Study of Western Civilization at 10060 Bubb Road in Cupertino.

The show dates were finalized earlier this week. The 6th Annual Virgin Artists Show and Sale will be held from noon - 6pm on Saturday and Sunday Dec 6th and 7th, 2008.

Friend Workin' It

Local artist, good friend, my co-organizer of the 2007 "Artists on the Verge" San Francisco show, and fellow Saul Bell International Design Award recipient, Patrik Kusek, is featured in an online article about a relay event at the Precious Metal Clay Conference this summer. Art Jewelry Magazine's online content includes a picture of Patrik with other members of the winning West Coast team. Click on the title/link above to check it out.

Stones in the Channels

Practice rings for flush and channel setting diamond cut stones. Each piece is slightly different and, when the stones are set, each one will definitely be unlike the others.

The rings are sitting atop the "Creative Stonesetting" book by John Cogswell. In addition to being a nice resource for pictures and drawings, the informative text is well written and easy to read.
